Your list of the perils of sleep apnea omitted cardiac arrhythmia, stroke and diabetes, all of which happened to me along with gout as a result of my sleep apnea. My stroke was a transient ischemic attack (TIA), a ministroke which resulted in my inability to speak for less than a day. The doctors who treated me determined that the TIA resulted from a blood clot that resulted from a 20-hour period of atrial fibrillation that was the result of sleep apnea. Once my sleep apnea was resolved 5 years ago, my gout attacks ceased completely, attacks which had occurred every few weeks with varying degrees of severity over a period of 15 years. After about 6 months of no sleep apnea, I had no more periods of atrial fibrillation, and my diabetes was "cured". I was so very lucky to be treated by a doctor who knew that the atrial fibrillation could be a result of sleep apnea. Most doctors do not yet know enough about the perils of sleep apnea.
