I was a witness to gout attacks flairing up in a middle aged man when his mother, on one occassion, and his ex wife, on another, were condemning him on the phone with emotional outbursts directed towards him and their dissappointment in his legitimate response. His gout immediatedly flared up. He had no pain prior to those phone calls.
