I have realised that for myself gout attacks are not going to stop completely. I have had it in my toes at first and then ankles and recently in my knees. It usually lasts the best part of a week with treatment colchicine and indo methacin as a pain killer. I can control it pretty good by watching what I eat and making sure I don't drink too much beer and absolutely no hard liquor or red meat. The pain one goes through will make you give up what ever it takes. I am at this moment suffering with gout it my hip which is a new one for me and I wonder what it will do in the future so I will be asking my doctor to put me on allopurinol daily tablets which I have avoided up to now. I hope it works for me I am 57years old and looking forward to retiring without this very disabling blood disorder.
