I had a very stressful contract job in another state, and have always drunk a lot of beer. After a vacation to Peru with a lot of ceviche and beer and returning to the stress, it got worse. The contract is over now and I am back home, still drinking beer, but no gout now - hope it continues. My uric acid level was low, only on xray did the dr. see the uric acid crystals in my big toe, and then it migrated to the thumb joint and other areas. Another thing I have been doing in addition to the many multivitamins and supplements I have always taken is taking a lot of turmeric tablets, a natural antiflammatory. But since I was taking that before also, I have to conclude that stress was the major factor in developing and subsequently no experiencing gout. I would definitely recommend vitamins and turmeric. Good Luck.
