I am in complete agreement with you, in the relationship between gout and stress. It seems to me that every time my stress levels rise at work and or at church...sometimes both, the result is a gout attack.
For example, when I was candidating for Pastor and eventual took over my current position as Pastor at my Church, stress levels brought on a gouty attack. I am only a part time pastor so at my second job, I was given a promotion to general manager - the stress brought on another attack.
I know what foods to be careful with, but it seems to me that stress seems to play a bigger part in flare-ups than my diet.
I do not know what to do about it, because I can manage my stress levels internally...however, when I do, for any length of time...Gout is sure to follow. So I turn to med's and hope they work...The only problem is that I am a big guy and the low doses of indocin or colchocine are not always effective for quick or lasting relief.
