I was quite relieved when reading that you believed that "Stress" can bring on Gout. I have suffered with gout now for a number of years, I am now at a point where medication does little or is very slow in aiding my recovery, hence the reason for looking on the net.
I can confidently tell you that I get an attack of gout during periods of stress or feeling depressed, generally these attacks will attack the insteps of both feet and are not as severe as reactive type attacks from food etc that tend to attack the toe and ankle joints and sometimes the bridge of the foot.
I will be trying the apple cider remedy in the hope that I can introduce that to my diet and become gout free.
