I agree stress is a contributing factor for triggering gout attacks. But I truly believe the consumption of High Frutose Corn Syrup will trigger an attack just as easy.
Typically, men don't talk about many things, but I have found a common theme amonst men that enjoy eating corn sweetened foods and men with gout. My buddy in Hawaii loves Mrs Yashida's teriaki sauce on his ribs, beef and chicken, yet he often has gout in his knees. I challenged him to discontinue the teriaki sauce and cleanes his system and over a period of two months he has been off his meds and his knees are healing.
So sure, stress might be it, or maybe we're eating corn sweetened foods to binge and relieve stress.
Hope this helps somebody out there.
